Collaborative Performance (after Michael Rhode) - 2020, Collaboration with Svetlana Antropova
This performance was devised remotely in the early weeks of Covid-19 quarantine. Our professor challenged is to follow devising prompts created by Professor Michael Rhode, using the theme of “social distance” to generate our work. This piece was devised, recorded, performed and edited in collaboration with and gratitude for Svetlana Antropova. Together, we each collected one found image, up to two quotes from a source, and one piece of music/sound that we then shared with each other. Building off of these eight “materials”, we each devised a movement sequence in response to our collections; these sequences made in isolation where then shared with the other and used to then devise one final, blended work. Inspirations include:
Quotations: “Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born.” Anais Nin | “The world is full of kind people... If you can’t find one - be one”. - Unknown. | “Those we love don’t go away, They walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, Still loved, still missed and forever dear.” — Unknown
Music: “Unravel” by Bjork
